At Calder Monday a 10 race card and seven of the races are Maiden Claiming, so sad.

With 8 stakes and 3 MSW's on the card today, they are probably expending a good percentage of their high end horses.

All 3 turfers are 1 1/16 mile, all dirt races are 5-6f.
Dirt (or poly) maiden claiming races are my best single category. I welcome them, the more the better.

Wow! I would have never thought that...........
Reader's Digest races - you only need the first 4 furlongs.;)

Another vote here for maiden claimers, though not necessarily the ones at Calder. Turf races, even better. So I guess it's always only me and cj ever playing these things.
The question to ask downstream is, "whatever happened to those seven winners?" I can never recall seeing a tiny jump in non-mdn, non-mcl field sizes 2-3 weeks down the road after days like this; something always happens to some of them. So really, there is a need for more mdn/mcl races somewhere if field size is ever to increase. Yep, I know, "Don't hold your breath".
