To all of the board members pre-complaining about the failure of the Democratic congress before they have even changed the curtains, oversight is the name of the game. And no matter how bad the dems may turn out to be, these guys had to go-big time. When the dems screw up as badly it will be theirs.

Too funny.

At least the cartoonist didn't have to make up the New York Times headline.

Restore the oversight committee.

Repeat Truman's actions from when he was in Congress.

I'm worried more about National Security than anything else. It doesn't matter how much money is in your pocket if Al Queda is in your backyard. I do not trust the Democrats to run the Military and protect us from terrorist attacks. If we had not been listening to phone calls which the Democrats would NEVER have done...then that plane in England would have most definitely been BLOWN UP ! No attacks on American soil in 6 years, but are we thankful ?...HELL NO! Could you just imagine what might happen if someone like Howard Dean was commander in chief ?

dav,

this is all a pollitical shell game until (if?) the next terrorist attack happens. Then all bets are off.

Thankful? They're too busy worrying what the fundamental Christians are thinking and doing to be thankful, let alone be concerned about trying to stop radical Muslims from committing another attack on American soil.

I have the exact same worries as you do, and I hope and pray that those on the left are correct....that my fears are unfounded and have their roots in "scare-tactics" used by the right to "control" the population. Otherwise, we're most likely screwed.

hcap,

What is oversight? I heard Harry Reid say in his talk Friday that checks and balances are now in place. What did he mean by that?

1,000s of trained, dedicated, determined terroists graduating from "Kill U" and marching home to begin stepped up assimilation of the west, direct threats to blow up the white house, and we keepo hearing talk about ovesigt, and investigation, and revenge for the abu grad michieve (who died???)

PA, I hope we are both way on the scared side of things, but I have a feeling
9-11 will dwarfed before too much longer, and and certain a major horror in Iraq is being planned right now. If we aren't going to go all out , 100% to win TODAY, we best get our guys and gals home YESTERDAY.

Man, I hope you libs prove me wrong.

That reminds me of an explanation I heard of the law of supply and demand as it relates to oil companies and the price of gasoline: The companies have all the supply, so they can demand whatever they want.

As someone who flies around 5-8x a month, and spends a significant amount of time in Downtown NYC, there is not a day that goes by that I don't think of terrorism and our response.

Thankfully my office is 25 miles outside of NYC not too far from a nuke plant.

If the terrorists have their way, no place would be safe, but lets assume that NYC is target #1, followed by Wash DC.

Just my luck to live a stone's throw fro a nuclear reactor.
But then again, around here, we don't throw too many stones!:rolleyes:

nuke reactors are encased in so much concrete........the two jets that hit the Trade Towers would have bounced off............don't worry about reactors.

What scares me is liberals do not worry about terrrorism. They actually think we can "reason" with them! Ridiculous!

http://www.commondreams.org/headlines06/1111-01.htm

"Republicans have speculated that a Democratic congressional majority will mean a flurry of subpoenas and investigations into everything under the sun as retaliation against the GOP and President Bush.

Not so, Waxman said.

"A lot of people have said to me, `Are you going to now go out and issue a lot of subpoenas and go on a wild payback time?' Well, payback is unworthy," he said. "Doing oversight doesn't mean issuing subpoenas. It means trying to get information."

Subpoenas would be used only as a last result, Waxman said, taking a jab at a previous committee chairman, GOP Rep. Dan Burton of Indiana, who led the committee during part of the Clinton administration.

"He issued a subpoena like most people write a letter," Waxman said.
