Not sure if this belong in off-topic or not so PA you won't hurt my feelings if you move it.
It's an AP story (NOT from CBS News) about how the GOP might lose a few votes because of the Internet gambling ban. Verdict: probably not a far-reaching effect but could be costly in some very close elections.

Leach has also cited moral dimensions to the law, calling it one of the most important pieces of family legislation ever considered by lawmakers.

"Internet gambling is not a subject touched upon in the Old or New Testament or the Quran," Leach said earlier this year. "But the pastoral function is one of dealing with families in difficulty and religious leaders of all denominations and faiths are seeing gambling problems erode family values."

Leach calls this "one of the most important pieces of family legislation..." Well, isn't he just the little old king of f---ing hyperbole.

While he's voting against internet gambling, just about every major city in the country has a f---ing new casino. What a piece of work.

Leach, Kyle, Frist -- all of them are full of shit. You want to talk about the erosion of family values then let's talk about what alcohol does to families. I don't hear any of these pols trying to pass laws to prohibit alcohol sales to adults because it is a dangerous drug that is abused by millions and destroys countless families at every economic level.

I'll take a gambler over an alcoholic anyday.

I say they should both be legal. Adults can make responsible decisions. There are 12 step programs for those who can't.

Parents are responsible for making sure their kids don't drink. And they are responsible for their kids not gambling.

Obviously, this is not about family values. It's about money -- who should get the gambling dollars and who should not. Specifically, it's about preventing anyone offshore from making money off of American gamblers. I imagine there are still a few Indian and non-Indian casinos paying lobbyists to pursuade pols how to vote.

They snuck this bill in were it didn't belong so that American's would not get a chance to debate it. And then they try to white wash it by saying it's for our own good. As usual, they try to sell us a bill of goods and take us for suckers.

I have no respect for anyone Dem or Repub who knowingly let this bill pass.

John Lennon showed his genius when he brilliantly and eloquently wrote the words to the song "Just Gimme Some Truth" --

I'm sick and tired of hearing things
from uptight short sighted narrow minded hypocrites
All I want is the truth
Just gimme some truth

I've had enough of reading things
by neurotic psychotic pig headed politicians
All I want is the truth
Just gimme some truth

No short haired yellow bellied son of tricky dicky's
gonna mother-hubbard soft soap me
with just a pocket full of hope
money for rope

I'm sick to death of seeing things
from tight lipped condescending momma's little chauvinists
All I want is the truth
Just gimme some truth

I've had enough of watching scenes
of schizophrenic ego-centric paranoic prima-donnas
All I want is the truth
Just gimme some truth. .

OK. I got that out of my system. I can go back to handicapping now.
