One of the icons of the 1960's, Tower Records, is going out of business.

With my diverse taste in music I find the stores such as Best Buy, Barnes and Noble, etc., just do not offer me the same range of selections. For example a recent find was "Swing Around the World" on the Putumayo label.

What do the rest of you do when you want some new tunes?

That is disturbing. They are (were) the best store to get anything music/sound related. They have a HUGE selection.
Besides music, I think one time I ran into Tower to get a capo and some empty jewel cases, and they had both.
Who's next to go out of business? Don't tell me The Wherehouse !

itunes should be blown-up. Give Rhapsody a twirl. $9/mo and you can preview any tune in full length & quality and their selection is larger than itunes.

man, I still go to VIRGIN records on ~45th st, nyc, i love browsing cds.
and my best cd shop is a smallish place called Rebel Rebel, greenwich village,
& what a steady supply of great music. Yeah, I DL, but I pay, and I still
think the artist deserves his wage. RIP TOWER.
