In looking over HTR, Ken Massa's program, there's a factor called the K-rating,
and it claims that the top 4 K-ratings include 73% of the winners. Is that
good? I would have expected better.

Not being familiar with the program, I'd say it depends on how closely the horses with the top 4 K-ratings correspond to the top 4 betting choices as established by the public. If the two groups are identical, then 73% would be nothing special. But if the software consistently highlights horses that are underbet by the public, then that figure becomes more significant (at least until enough people start keying on those horses, and affecting their odds).

PlanB…

As a current and satisfied customer of HTR I’m curious…

What are you primarily looking for from the software?

Probably about right - the top two nationwide get about 30%w and 20% P.
There are other ratings that do very well with better odds.

Where your power comes in is combining of ratings.

Orleans contest - Day 1.
Horse pays 99-1 with HTR PEDigree rating #1.
6 people have him - 4 were HTR users.

Tom:

Any information on what the conditions of that race were? Turf? Maiden?

I can assure you the top 4 are not always the top 4 betting choices...I have personally caught a few 8-1's and above that were ranked 1st or 2nd in the K department. His PED rating and Workout Scores are very lethal, especially when combined, as Tom stated.

The top 4 top K ratings is a good place to start handicapping a race. In addition there are many other valuable ratings which the public does not have access to ;)
