Thanks for the post Tee, Nelson's record for most wins in a row I doubt will ever be broken. BTW Tee was talking with a couple of really good low handicap golfers and asked them what's the differance between a really good player and a tour player. Both said putting and the ability to putt on the weekend. Lots of guys can hit solid long drivers and good iron shots but the old saying is true in that you "putt for the dough". How you like this stat from the PGA tour for this year==Tiger Woods putting from 3 feet or less 347 for 347 not bad uh?? These guys also said a very good way for a person to prepare for the tour is to get into high stakes putting bets with the locals. Six foot putt with big cash on the line gets to be a little longer than six feet. :)

Pretty much the same thing Jim Flick told me Mel. The ability to get up and down & roll the rock. I've heard stories of tour players missing every green in reg on the front nine - guess what they shot? Yep that's right, even par & thus they are still alive in the tournament.

Heck with six feet, two feet get's pretty damn long with some cash on the line!!! :D

Hogan, Snead & Nelson gone to quote The Associated Press "End of an Era."

Today's NY Post also had a nice article about "Lord Byron" by Jaime Aron. Winning 11 straight tournaments is a feat I am pretty sure will never be topped. That year he won a mere 18 yes 18 events. Also Tee how do you like this stat at one point he played 19 consecutive rounds under 70. His stroke average of 68.33 for the season is still the record.

I heard pretty much the same stats on The Golf Channel last night. They also made the point in regards to his stroke average that the courses weren't "manicured" as they are today. :)

Really amazing stuff considering he really didn't play that long & did spend quite a bit of time as a club professional
