Debuted sometime last week at Woodbine. New concept in the world of horseracing, that in itself is a rarity. Some what intrigued by it. Looks like this will expand to more tracks, with Keeneland the newest to try it this fall.

Link below is a demo....

Edit of what I originally wrote:

fired up the video

very interesting (though the different perspectives can be a bit tricky)

2 points:

1) the increased accuracy as to beaten lengths and position of the track

is something long overdue

2) wish there were some way to use the chip with actual video of the race

too much is missed, IMO, in the simulation of it

well, turns out there is, sort of:

check out the link September 2006 Woodbine Simulcast

on

http://www.trakus.com/news.asp

for a live race with simulation

very interesting to be able to follow them around the track

expedites what is presently a very time consuming process

When ar they going to start sharing the actual time data? I want to see what a horse beaten 3 lengths is actually time-wise off the leader.

I wonder if their info is similar the this, www.teletimer.com. We'll see how much support by handicappers there is this time around!

related to the live video broadcast from Woodbine that seems to show a real-time blip of each runner during the race at the bottom of the screen? I'm interested to learn how it is done if this is the case. Must be some sort of transponder on each horse... anyone know? Would end the photo, right?

First post, love this site!

each horse has a electronic transponder which responds to sensors around the track.
