At starting Wars and not finishing them. Truman got us into Korea and how many American Soldiers were either killed or wounded. Ike came in and Finished it. A Republican. And how did he finish it. He went to the Chineese and told them he would take the War to China's front Door and use Nuclear Weapons. They signed a Truce.
LBJ started Viet Nam and how many American Soldiers were killed 56,000. When it came time to end it he ran and hid like a coward he was. Nixon a Republican ended it . How by Bombing the shit out of them. Ask John McCain . He always said that was the best thing to happen at that time.
Jimmy Carter they took our people Hostage and what did he do. Disgrace us with an attempt to get our people with equipment ,namely choppers that couldn't get off the ground . Regan got them home.
Billary Clinton the only thing he did as President was disgrace the Whitehouse. And put the Blame for everything that happened on everyone else.

These were your great Dem Presidents.

PS Oh yes FDR. He let the Japs Bomb Pearl and I really believe he knew what was gonna happen ,but didn't know where. He also turned a Boat loaded with jewish people away from the USA. And Oh Yeah he was screwing his COUSIN.

I remember the Dole-Mondale debate when they were both running for vice-president in 1976, and Dole made a reference to the fact that if you took all the American casualties in "Democrat wars" (as he called them) in the 20th century, you'd have enough people to populate the city of Detroit. Mondale jumped all over that immediately, asking Dole (who was, of course, a wounded World War II veteran) whether he was seriously contending that America's entry or participation in World War II had been partisan in nature. I understood Dole's point, but I think he cost his ticket some votes on that one.

(By the way (considerations of her appearance aside) Eleanor was Franklin's fifth cousin.)

...the South (which, after the war, remained solidly Democratic). (The Democrats controlled the Presidency for twelve years prior to Lincoln, and the Republicans didn't even exist as a national party before 1856. Lincoln had been in office only thirty-nine days when the war began with the South's attack on Fort Sumter, and he had been emphatic in his inaugural address that the South had no grounds for going to war based on a fear of the national government taking away their liberties.)

oh it was started by the SOuth?

Then tell me how does Truman get credit for Korea? Riddle me that one.

ANd that nice Mr. Hitler fella had something to do with the start of WW II.

As well as the Japanese.

And while you're blaming LBJ for Vietnam, who did you think started that one anyhow?

And Jimmy Carter is being blamed for what exactly? Taking americans hostage; that was started by Arminadje et al.

Hey here's one for you: how many american presidents have actually started a war by invading another country? Think about that one.

Oh and by the way, Eisenhower got us into Vietnam.

I understood Dole's comment about "Democrat wars" as applying to wars where American involvement began during Democratic administrations (as in World War I, World War II, and Korea) or was perpetuated or escalated during Democratic administrations (as in Vietnam), regardless of whether (as in World War II or Korea), Amercian involvement was the result of a direct attack on us or an ally; or regardless of the rationale for going to war (as in World War I). I can't dispute about Bush breaking the pattern (as well as invading another country).

FDR knew we were gonna get hit by the Japaneese , he didn't know where. He was warned by Billy Mitchell and was told how they were gonna do it.
Ike sent advisors . LBJ sent in the troops to Viet Nam no one else. Watch the movie They Were Soldiers. What he should have done was pull out the Advisers. The South Viet Nam people had no stomach for fighting.
Jimmy Carter made us look like fools when he had a secret mission to go get the Hosteges out of Iran and when they tried none of the EQUIPMENT was any good.
Bill Clinton had at least 2 chances to get Bin Ledin and would not give the order.

What's your source for Billy Mitchell knew about the Pearl Harbor attack?

What's your source for Billy Mitchell knew about the Pearl Harbor attack?
Although Mitchell had stressed "war-time conditions", the tests were under static conditions and the sinking of the Ostfriesland was accomplished by violating agreed-upon rules that would have allowed Navy engineers to examine the effects of various munitions; Mitchell's airmen disregarded the rule and quickly sank the ship in a coordinated attack. This proved—at least to Mitchell—that surface fleets were obsolete. In 1922 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1922) he met the like-minded Italian air power theorist Giulio Douhet (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giulio_Douhet) on a trip to Europe and soon after an excerpted translation of Douhet's The Command of the Air began to circulate in the Air Service.

In 1924 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1924), Mitchell's superiors sent him to Hawaii (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hawaii), then Asia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asia), to get him off the front pages. Mitchell came back with a 324-page report that predicted future war with Japan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japan), including the attack on Pearl Harbor (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attack_on_Pearl_Harbor). His report was mostly ignored.

actually now that I think about it, Polk started the Mexican war with an invasion of Mexico. The War of 1812 could also be argued happened in this manner...

but then how can anyone have confidence in a leader who talks like this:

Things leave the impression that George W. Bush is a dimwit. Let's face it: A man who cannot talk about education without making a humiliating grammatical mistake ("The illiteracy level of our children are appalling"); who cannot keep straight the three branches of government ("It's the executive branch's job to interpret law"); who coins ridiculous words ("Hispanos," "arbolist," "subliminable," "resignate," "transformationed"); who habitually says the opposite of what he intends ("the death tax is good for people from all walks of life!") sounds like a grade-A imbecile.

46:

Reminds me of the Late Hizzoner, Great Democratic Mayor of Chicago Richard J. Daley.

Not the best public speaker, and at times brutalized the language, but that did not make him a dimwit. Did it 46?

BTW 46 many people had a great deal of confidence in him.

better to be THOUGHT a dimwit than to open one's mouth and leave NO DOUBT. There is NO DOUBT here.

Anyone has episodes of forgetfullness, but consistency of outcome here leaves no doubt.

You mean like "It depends on what the definition of IS is".

or "I did not have sex with that women Monica Louwinsky."

Getting your pipes cleaned is not sex . It's called sexual plumbing.

Episodes of forgetfulness? The beloved late Mayor did not have episodes of forgetfulness unless you meant forgetting the rules of grammer and syntax.
