So. Cal Fan here again......with puter problems!
I use Outlook Express on my Windows XP.
All of a sudden, OE will not let me open any attachments.
It says they refuse to open unsafe attachments.
They are the same attachments from friends that I have been getting all the time.
Has anyone ever had this problem? Any suggestions?
Should I switch to Microsoft Outlook as my default?
Thanks,
Confused So. Cal Fan

Thank you for taking the time to respond, Ralph.
I really appreciate it.
I use some of my stuff for work, so it's important I get this right.
I will try your links in the morning.
Hopefully, I won't have nightmares about my Windows. LOL

Just Ralph:
I went to your first link....downloaded the new version of office.
My mail now comes up with Microsoft Outlook, I did open my attachment........I'll just have to get used to using this.
Thanks for your help.

SCF,

Just an opinion, but Outlook Express might be the first program in history where the cheap version is an imporvement over the upgrade.

Personally, we downgraded from Outlook to Express. One of the issues was the file attachment problem that you mentioned. In OE you can still get the attachments.

Good luck.

That is really weird, Dave, because it is OE that all of a sudden stopped opening email attachments. If you go to the first hyperlink that Just Ralph listed, it tells what happened....sort of.....
Anyway, I agree with you. I wish I could use OE.
The other is probably better, IF you understand it.....which I don't, but after using a MAC for years, I got this PC and figured out how to at least make these posts! LOL

The names "Outlook" and "Outlook Express" are rather misleading because these are two entirely different products, they just appear to be similar. Outlook is OLE compliant, which is why I use it, it interfaces with other Microsoft products better than Outlook Express.
