View Full Version : A Football Legend
Well, today I feel like I lost a friend. Certainly an idol. For any interested, Johnny Unitas died of a heart attack in Baltimore. He was 69.
Boy I used to love to watch him with the Colts. Time to flip in an old video in the VCR and go back to the 60's

Johnny U. certainly was a thrilling guy to watch and gave us all much pleasure. Sorry to hear he's gone.

One of my boyhood heroes...
He had a rough time in recent years. Apparently some form of arthritis casued him to lose his ability to grip with his right hand. I read that he played golf by strapping the club to his hand for every shot.
The article (Sports Illustrated, I believe) said that the NFL insurance did not recognize it as a disability because it did not start prior to age 55. Go figure.

Great player, great guy.
He will always be remembered.
Too bad the NFL is such a bunch of greedy slimeballs that they just use up people and then let them suffer in later years.
Hope some old owners (like Ralph Wilson) fall and break a hip so they can understand what pain is all about.
