SAINT LIAM

Saint Liam, the 2005 Horse of the Year, was euthanized on Tuesday afternoon after fracturing his left hind leg while being led to his paddock at Lane's End in Versailles, Kentucky.

He was solid champion.

Horrible news. Would have been great to see his offspring oneday. Unreal stuff.

When I met Bailey at the Haskell...I mentioned his trip in the Classic. He said
"You could have won on him that day"

Aw man. First Lost in the Fog, now Saint Liam. Two incredible racehorses, two tragic events within days of each other

When it rains, it pours, I guess.

Iv'e had an avatar of the Woodward for the longest. Im fianally able to resize one to use. That Ghostzapper-St Liam Woodward was a ding dong drag down dog fight in a super fast time. If anyone ever doubted these guys, check that race out.

Well there is some good news in all of it. He did in fact cover 115 mares. Still shorted by several 100. Always a lousy thing when a champ goes down before his time. Hope the little ones run big.

Nice Clip

That was the public work out 2005 Woodward. There was no doubt in my mind he was the best horse in the classic last year by far. Bet him with the ut most confidence. 6.80 was a huge pay out. Big overlay.

Wow, I hope Prado isn't taking this personally. He's ridden them all.

This is really ashame. He was such a talented horse. His mind wasn't always in the right place but he could run with anybody, including ghostzapper.

In addition to breeding unsound horses, losing champions like this sure hurts american racing.

He does have 115 mares in foal this year, so there will be a few saint liams out there, but it is sad that he wasnt able to spend a lengthy time at stud.

It's stories like this that make me wonder how in the world ANY horse lives long enough to die of simple old age....What a number this horse did on himself - they are so damn fragile and high strung - a terrible combination!
