At the EmD site they have video of some Longacres Miles ... I think. Hey, was Red Eye Express ever entered in one? Remember him?

Yeah, Red Eye Express was in a couple of Longacres Mile races. I believe he finished last, or almost last, in the early 70's, but then returned the next year and ran much better (finished 2nd?). But yeah, Red Eye Express definitely ran in The Mile.

Before Longacres closed in the early 90's, the Mile was a $250,000 Added purse. The winner was taking home around $180,000 with all of the fees. 15 years ago, that was a pretty nice piece of change. Which is why horses the calibre of Louis Cyphre and Ibero would ship up for the race.
