I've noticed the sons and daughters of Go For Gin really suck at Saratoga!

Anybody know if he ever ran there?

Just Curious?

He ran third in the Forego in 1994 behind American Chance and Evil Bear.

Albert the Great came within a nose of winning the Travers--despite drifiting into the deeper rail path through the final 3/16ths of a mile.

He's a son of Go For Gin.

I have only 1 winner, Go Now a Zito horse, in the last 5 years that has won at the Spa. I have looked at a couple other horses, and passed the race, because of that stat.

I'm someone who's far more open-minded regarding meet specific pedigree stats than most horseplayers.

However, Saratoga is a pretty elite meet and not a very long one---and Go For Gin, who stands for just $5,000 is not exactly an elite sire....he also doesn't breed to a big quantity of mares a year..and, he gets very few Ny Breds.

His best son, Albert the Great ran a winning a race in the Travers, but lost a photo, and he was also 2nd in the Whitney. So, he made a very good account of himself in the two most important races of the meeting.

It is still never a bad idea to monitor these things....

I'm wondering what he was doing running in the Forego in the first place.....seems like a strange spot for the defending Derby champ. I'll never forgive him for the Belmont. A friend and myself were alive to him (just him, no Tabasco Cat) in the last leg of one of the old national P6s....and even hit a 30-1 shot earlier. McCarron kept him way off the rail. Probably didn't matter. Tabasco Cat was the superior horse.

Friday's card had a Go For Gin horse 3rd choice in the betting off the board.

Also an Albert The Great, who does not much better at the SPA with a record in the last 5 years of 0/5, very small sample size.
