Real Brief . . .

Do sportsbooks in Vegas allow lap tops? Are there any books that allow you to "plug in" instead of using a battery? I am purchasing new software and wondering if it is feasable. Any wisdom would be appeciated.

While at Mandalay and MGM Grand did not see a one. Got the impression that you would not be welcome there with one as a good friend just brought his print outs instead.

It's OK at Paris and Ballys. Plugs at both.

I can verify that it's alright at The Orleans as well, they even let us use our laptop at the World Series tournament there last year.

... hehe, they told us we couldn't use our cell phones, but being online w/ a laptop and a verizon broadband card was alright. go figure =)

I usually stay at the Orleans. Were you plugged in?

the tournament was held in a large room on the 2nd floor, and they actually provided us with an extension cable ... i think your experience will be a little different, but I'm pretty sure that you can find a place to plug your laptop in, given a little creativity =) they're certainly open to laptops there, at the least

but what's the difference? especially when
a) they let you go outside to use them whenever you want (thus negating 'no outside tips'

b) the place is nosier than hell to begin with, due to the hundreds of people there.

???

i dunno, just doesn't seem to make sense to me

Using a computer with a wireles connection is a no no. The only reason you were able to do it i because they didn't know about it.
Some casinos won't let you use a laptop at all, most will. It depends on how current the manager is on technology.

I'd rather be up in the room than the book so it doesn't matter to me but if they don't allow it you're in the wrong estab

No cell phone usage is circa 1984

Nope. Lots of casinos ban laptops as well as cellphones. The Excalibur is one where they made me and a friend, close up our laptops.
I use mine at Jerry's Nugget, but have to depend on the battery.

Have been told that Manadalay Bay properties do not allow laptops but they are OK at Gold Coast and Boulder Station. These things change with the breeze so the conditions when you get here might be..................

I believe that cell phones are actually against Nv gaming regs. Not so with laptops.

very strange ... for a past time that includes being able to play at home, by yourself, at the tracks ... all of a sudden at the casinos you're not allowed to? oh well ... hurray for circa 1984 =) at the least the coast casinos are very friendly for horse racing fans (according to my boss, they're the last group of casinos in vegas who are) so i still say you should be alright there.

I have seen people using Laptops in the Rio but I was just walking by so I don't remember if it was pluged it or not.

That was 2 years ago so things may have changed.

hehe, if I thought I could get my boss to use any website not tailor built for his consumption I would, this seems like the kind of group of people he'd be interested in hanging out with =)
