I believe he will run in the St. Louis Derby @ Fairmont Park.

He, along with Steppenwolfer, Flashy Bull and a few other notables are supposed to attend. Then again, that is according to our track announcer (at Fairmount), so I guess we will all find out together. The race, the St. Louis Derby, takes place on August 26th I believe. Fairmount is my home track, so anyone with questions about it (I realize most people do not play it regularly if at all), feel free to ask.

is Fairmont all about speed akin to a Keeneland surface or does it run evenly like the Fair Grounds or Belmont?

I read in Sunday's Form (hard copy, not online) that Steppenwolfer was being given a substantial break, and that he may return for next winter's Oaklawn meet.

fairmount is a deep track. and unless there is a bias(weather related) it plays even.

think calder but deeper and more horse friendly.

Tell me it's faster. Watching races at Calder almost puts one to sleep! :faint:

Fairmount has always been on the deep side. Seems like the FP runners in cheap races do well when they ship to tracks like Ellis or Hoosier.

they actually run well everywhere.

fairmount park horses own hoosier park. fp leading owner/trainer has won the meet for 4 years straight?? and i believe led at indy downs.

problem is, the crop of illy breds has been sour the past few years. sure some of the cartright horses can run, but the crop has been weak compared to 8 years ago per say.

its a place where your not going to steal purses. even the 3200K(bottom) claimers run their eyes out for pay checks..

One of my favorite angles when Chicago racing moves to Hawthorne is to bet the sharp Fairmount $3000 claimers running for $4000 at Hawthorne. Arlington's bottom is $4000 but there's quite a few of those who are probably worth $2500.

yep, unless hawthorne is rock hard, and not its typical deep surface, the fp horses run their eyes out.

we used to hit some nice exactas at haw and ellis with fp horses.

Do you know if they are opening the infield up for Saturday? I was there this last weekend and I noticed a huge tent in the infield... but that was all. Kind of looked out of place, but I figured there was more to come... right?

Good steer, Valuist, but I'm afraid Fairmount needs to go to Astrodirt. :D
