I would say Invasor, but I think Flower Alley, Commentator, Bellamy Road and a few 3YOs have not shown what they have yet.

I still do not understand why flower alley didn't race untill july. Pletcher said he wanted him fresh for the fall but how fresh does he need to be? He wasted an entire half year on a potential HOY. Lava man has left him in the dust in that regards.

We've become so accustomed to things like this that no one even thinks that much of a trainer taking a top 5 horse out of racing for 8 months. They're careers are short enought, we don't need 8 month breaks between races.

Pletcher's goal for Flower Alley is the Breeder's Cup.

There is a horse out of Calder who has now won his last 3 in a row,2 of them big stakes and 1 was a grade 2.This horse has gone from being a nobody to being 5th in America with a last race beyer of 115.This horse easily won last weeks Cornhusker stakes in Iowa beating several nice NY horses. His name is SIPHON CITY trained by Dan Hurtak..Look for him in the Whitney at the Spa.

Isn't Bernardini still in training?

Yes but he hasn't accomplished enough to get his own choice. He gets lumped with "other"

What has Invasor done? Won two races in this country including a very weak Pimlico Special. If they were in the same race, Bernardini would drill him into the ground.

Just entertain alydar44. We all know that the poll is bogus.

Invasor has won 2 grade 1 races against open company. Yes they were weak fields but he still won them and impressively.

I love bernardini but how much do we really know about him to consider him the best horse in training? You talk about the week fields invasor has beaten but who exactly was in the preakness that was so great? (once barbaro was out)

How can you say bernardini would drill him into the ground? How often have top 3yo's drilled top older horses "into the ground" recently"?

You are either vastly overrating berardini or underrating invasor.

So what do you think bernardini would do against flower alley or lava man? How bout the other top 3yo like jazil and bluegrass cat?

I was more impressed by his last race, though there was nothing wrong with his Pimlico Special either. Both fields weren't especially strong, but neither were the fields that Lava Man beat. I think we know how good Lava Man is, but Invasor won pretty wrapped up last time and is still lightly raced enough to get better for his new trainer.

All that said, Flower Alley, Commentator, Bellmany Road, Bernardini and a few other 3YOs could easily move to the top of the rankings if they come back where they left off and develop etc....

I have one problem with Deep Impact and that is as his name implies, he comes so far from off the pace. He can be beat. This also seems to guarantee that he will not run in the Classic "if" he comes to the BC. He will want 1 1/2 not 1 1/4 and even this may prove difficult. His Dad was my all time favorite of horses that I saw run and I hope I'm wrong.

With the shape of the current racing crop.I say none of the above.
I'll go out on a limb and say some 2yr old in training at Saratoga or Del Mar. ;)
