Hello people

Just wondering if anyone can point me to a website that provides a tote history archive - e.g. rather like what www.racingchannel.com provides with the amounts bet in each pool, as shown below - they don't appear to keep this history on their site?

Thanks for any help.

A further question - does anyone know which site is best to use with regards to tote updates - i.e. the site that updates its prices most frequently?

Thx.

I don't think any of them keeps a history -- I had to write my own program to do just that.

I believe www.racingchannel.com is the best & most reliable online toteboard. Frequency of updates is somewhat track-dependent. Racing channel updates once a minute generally, although often you will see the win & place pools get updated on one update, and then show pools only 30 seconds later or something like that.

The online toteboards are usually a little behind the host track. If you watch online video for the tracks you will sometimes notice this. The big "problem", if you want to call it that, is that sometimes all the simulcast money gets thrown in at one time, often after the race goes off. (Search the archives for lots of discussion of tote issues.)

I noticed a few weeks back when a few tracks were experimenting with 45 Sec. cycles (DEL, PHA) that the racing channel tote tracked them. I don't know whether it is a "push" (there is a term now, mercifully in antiquity  ) type protocol being used or the racing channel had to reprogram to affect that change.

RacingChannel seems to adapt. Sometimes small quarter horse tracks will be on a very short cycle with 2 or 3 updates a minute. Almost all the other tracks will get one "real" update a minute, but often that update will seem to be split into two subupdates like win/place in one, and show in another....

Thanks for your help guys.

I did find this link at Equibase which provides quite a lot of information re starting prices but not amount of the pool bet on each horse, but they only keep the most recent week there and then archive.
