Well, it certainly is good that the 4 or 5 people who viewed this thread didn't run out and bet the family farm on the picks for today. Which is a nice way of saying they were a bit less successful than expected.

If you bet win, you would have caught a couple of small ones, both less than $5. If you boxed the exactas when you should have boxed, you would have caught one small exacta of $15.00. Altogether, rather pathetic results. I love days like this.

Why should I love days like this, you may ask. Because a losing day is like paying dues; it all comes back with value added, just like any other type of decent investment. Only the losers play by the day, and expect immediate gratification. The successful bettors have ups and downs, and when it all shakes out, they have more ups than downs.

That is a philosophy lesson--don't get anxious, depressed, irrationally violent, change your methods, or kick the cat just because you lost a few races. Mountaineer starts in half an hour! Wow, how much better can it get?
