This article made me realize how easy it is for personal data to end up in the wrong hands.

It amazes me how lax some companies are with persoanl data. Allowing sensitive material to be put on a laptop is crazy! It is the same thing as allowing personal files to be taken home.

It is going to take some major negligence law suits to get these irresponsible companies into the 21st century.

You might of saw about two weeks ago, that a company in Texas lost data on millions of people with oustanding Student Loans.

Only a concidence that congress authorized higher interest rates on these Loans due for next month!!

I think many times its a :

I'll leave the Laptop over here, and you leave 300 grand over there...;)

Why would they need the names to allow higher interest rates?
What am I missing here?

Color me dumb, but I still don't see how having the names hleps them allow higher interest rates? What do the names hav eto do with it? They could just raise them, couldn't they?

Boy... oh boy. If you were a company that refinanced Student loans????

And Congress approved a 7/1/06 rate hike , do you think it would be sweet to have the Names, Address's Phone numbers, Oustanding balance, payment history, credit score and name of the family dog to MILLIONS of potential customers?

Geez... Very simple analogy. I'm a company that maintains a Database of this information for the Govt...and I have all this very valuable info..

I said 300 grand, but truth be told, it's worth millions.

Suff, did you just send me an email offering a re-fi? Damn, I get at least 3-4 of those a day. I agree having this database of names is worth a small fortune.

Now, about that rate....is that the best you can do Suff?
