That was amazing.

I love the Japanese call, especially in the last 100 yards.

Edit: having listened a little closer, you can hear the announcer getting excited about "Broad Appeal" at the 3/16ths pole, even though she's still waaayyyy back.

Between the horse and the announcer, I now have reason to watch this about 20 times. Damn, I love that call.

Couldn't understand a word... but LOVED the call and the exitement in the announcer's voice.

Then, watching the winner gallup out, it struck me. Look at the muscling on that horse. It practically screams fit. Exactly what I'm always on the lookout for (but seldom see) in post parades and warmups.

I guess a horse is a horse is a horse no matter where they run em.

Wow what a rally! On the site someone posted this was a 6 F race with what 16 or 17 horses. Funny thing out of all of those horses 'Broad Appeal' was the only one picking off horses - the leader did not look like he was spitting it, just got run down. Anyone know if they use dirt or polytrack in Japan? Great call too.

Here is Silence Suzuka's win in the 1998 Kinko Sho

YouTube - Silence Suzuka - Kinko Sho (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i5gKKnUfE8Y&search=Silence%20Suzuka)

It is considered by some to be one of the greatest performances ever on turf. It is an utterly remarkable performance by an insanely talented race horse. He won this race in 1:57 and change for ten furlongs after running off early. He easily shattered the course record and left international Group 1 winner Midnight Bet beaten 15 lengths in 2nd.

This was one of five straight dominant stakes victories Silence Suzuka brought into the '98 Emperor's Cup. In that race, the son of Sunday Silence would break down while on a 15 length lead and have to be destoryed.

He is considered to be one of the all-time great free-running turf horses to ever race in any country.

Hello Fouroneone:

Thank you for sharing that clip. I really enjoyed that race and what's so fantastic about that race if you notice closely, I believe not one jockey in that race was carrying a stick. I could be wrong but it sure looked that way to me.

Best regards,
Joe

Just my luck. I had a hundred to win on the 5;) . I'd be curious what the splits were for that race!
