For those in the Arlington area. Is there a dress code in the bar/dining area at Trackside? I plan on going there after the races on Friday night and I haven't been there in 4 years or so. I don't want to have any problems getting in.

Thanks.

Dress code has pretty much been dropped, though I wouldn't wear jeans with holes in them or a dirty Tee.

I know shorts are ok. Haven't tried the pants w/holes in them (yet).

Thanks guys.

Valuist, I hope you never have to find out. My plan is to just throw a collared shirt into the rent a car to wear after the races and go with a collared shirt and jeans.

Worst case you could go with holes in jeans and dirty t-shirt to the second floor, if you have the money to get in the door they welcome you with open arms. Hope you get a seat in the non-smoking area, otherwise bring your oxygen.

I went to the new OTB in Niles a week ago. Its really big. If they can get the smoke situation straightened out, it will be nice.

Why bother when you can "take care of business" within the confines of your own abode?

I usually do. But I felt like checking it out, and I wanted to watch a few Canterbury races, which HRTV doesn't take on Saturdays. I'm not crazy about watching the video feed on my computer at home.

Why bother when you can "take care of business" within the confines of your own abode?Probably because there's a lot more...uh..."talent" at AP than at the house. It's been a while since I've been, but the scenery at Arlington was fantastic. It more than made up for the not-so-great race cards.

That's true. I was there for the Friday late afternoon card and it was as good as ever. The weekends, however, seem to bring out the stroller crowd.

Needless to say, there wasn't much "talent" at the smokey OTB.

any info on million day?

how early to get there, how long are lines to bet, etc?

ps at fairmount, people are too dumb to use the computer machines to bet, so they are always open, is it the same there? Are the lines shorter for machines? I like to wait till last couple minutes to bet, so any info would be appreciated. Also, what casino is close, or which casino that is within an hour is the best one?

thanx

I stopped going Million day because of the crowds and the fact they charge outrageous prices. The self use machines are always easier to get to than the tellers. The lines on Million day can be brutal cause there are so many amateurs. Nearest and best casino is the Grand Victoria in Elgin. About 20 minutes away (though longer if you're fighting Million day traffic leaving Arlington.
