While I wasn't a fan of his while he was racing, I did have a tremendous amount of respect for Sunday Silence. I, like many, was hoping he'd be able to pull through his ordeal. Sadly, though, it never did sound as if he was making positive progress, and after a heartbreaking fight, he's now passed.

This has been such a horrible year in the racing world. So much talent has been lost, both human and equine. Here's hoping for healthier, happier days ahead.

Great sentiments Observer. Sunday Silence was one of my two favorites of all time, so this loss was hard on me as well. As soon as I read the word laminitis I knew it was pretty much a lost cause, despite how hard his handlers tried to hold onto him.

No matter how much they try to romanticize his battle these last few weeks, I think we all know this horse was suffering tremendously......very sad.

It is really sad that both Easy Goer and Sunday Silence are gone, long before we'd hoped.
