Monmouth will start a contest this Saturday, May 27. Kind of a grind, as you must play every day. Three assigned races per day, and you must have at least one in-the-money finisher. Scratches are transferred to the favorite. I can't imagine why you would, but if you play only one or two of the assigned races, you can still survive if you finish in the money. Highest win/place/show mutuels aggregate wins only $1,000, BUT also an entry to the Las Vegas tournament in January. One more thing. You get one mulligan. If you forget to play one day, and I'm sure it happens, you get a reprieve.

That's been the problem with me and this contest...sometimes I forget to play and whammo, I'm out. I can't remember whether this one mulligan deal is new this year, but I know in years past that's been my downfall. Maybe I should affix a yellow Post-It to my computer to remind me to make my selections.

The portrait of you perhaps pointlessly and pantlessly keying your predictions is possibly the pinnacle of a posting image sans pictorial publishing.

Fear not. Even though this is a pubic forum, I shall not pictorialize my private parts, lest I be remanded to a penile colony. Pixelated, even? Perish the thought.

Pshaw, parochial prig. Parameters of propriety proscribe your paroxysms of probative prurience. Palookas press 'pon me, praying for personal possession of my predictive pony prowess, practically predestined. Plenty plenty plosives, pal. Peace. :)

Sorry to hear that proverbial parasites profit parimutuelly from your prognostic powers. Permit my postponement to peruse purchased publications in preparation for pursuing closeted pro-verbal encounters of our preferred kind.;)

To bypass the alliteration....glad I saw this. I like this type of contest and had played the Meadowlands version the last couple years....speaking of the Meadowlands...are the grass race days over there coming up included in this?

toetoe
05-26-2006, 02:08 PM
If you mean Meadowlands grass, no sir. Monmouth grass, maybe. They will designate three races per day. It's a bit more forgiving than the NYRA contests --- three races per day, instead of one, and the aforementioned mulligan feature.

Post-perusal, your prying proboscis and phlegmatically phrased, prudish post pitilessly pierce my parietal private place, perhaps playfully. You phlebotic, parsimonious, perspicacious, not to say peripatetic, pusillanimous panjandrum. :(

Some very sharp players out there guys. At Monmouth 2 people had all three contest race winners for a cash total of $81.40 and at the BigM 5 people had all three contest winners for a cash total of $71.60. Puts me with 3 place horses in a hole right at the start. LOL

I predict the 3-for-3 folks, the majority of them anyway, will be out soon. Okay, I need to believe that, or I'll be a desperate mess. Streakiness is scary. One 0-for-3 and you'll be out. I will say the Monmouth is looking very tough. If someone makes it through the meet, I will be VERY surprised. The Big M is definitely navigable, IF your horses avoid breaking, road trouble, etc.

At The Big M, I have 5, 5 and 5 today. Not the mark of the beast, is it?

I hated Jim West, but I squeaked in with a third-place finish by Netcong. Not much horse, but a woeful field. It's gonna be like this every day, I swear.

I survived today with Netcong and added the R10 winner #2 No Sleep. It'll be this tough the entire way you say, TT? It's just one show per day out of 3 races, how hard can this be anyway? ;) - Murph

Maybe not so tough, but you DO have a problem, Murph. You're betting the same horses I'm betting. Recipe for failure. :D

Monmouth started the survival game with 2,899 entries and after two days there are 1,825 remaining. A little harder than first appears. :D Yet to get a winner I seem to like low priced horses that place.

No survivor "kick-outs" today some kind of technical problem and the game for today is a cancel.

I think I had one run in....barely. This is a deceptively tough contest, tougher I think than the NYRA showdowns where at least you get to decide what race you want to play. With the races they are picking, it is very easy to end up with chalk in all 3 and have all of them run out.

I ran last in the 4th, last in the 6th, and last in the eighth. With two eased and one having the saddle slip, last was third in the 8th, and I got $2.10! HUGE!! It's really about surviving. Worry about money if you make it to the last week or so.

I think I've figured out that Monmouth only run Thursday through Sunday, whereas Meadowlands run Wednesday through Saturday. 4-day weeks make it a bit less hectic. I'm 226th or so at the big *M,* which is WAY better than it sounds. :D

OTM Al
06-06-2006, 09:02 AM
It will be that way for 2 more weeks because of the mondays at Meadowlands. Then they will go to, generally, wed-sun regular schedule

monmouth is my home track and it's really giving me the blues because of jersey joe. yesterday is a perfect example of this.

4th race mdspwt. bravo is on a breen 3yo, first time starter that's shown 1 lackluster work. in the race are some quality shippers that have held their own against top tier 3yo's in the past, in some cases beating them. drf morning line puts bravo's horse at 30-1, longest in the race. 4 minutes to post the horse is even money. bravo wins the race by 5 lengths for fun. stinks!

in the feature yesterday, bravo is coming off what may be the best horse in the race for a TP shipper that doesn't look fast enough to compete. bravo wins going away.

he screws up the whole track.
