Because the 2 is scratched, the race may be unbettable. The 6 becomes the primary, with 5 the secondary. Unfortunately, it is a short horse race and the odds may not be particularly attractive for a win bet. I suggest a modest 56 quiniela may provide a better chance for profit that betting into the exacta pool in a short horse race. The 6 looks strong for win, but NOT at less than even money. If 6 is odds-on at post time, and 5 is >2-1, you may consider the 5 to win. Otherwise, stay with the 56 quiniela and look for better hunting elsewhere.

Because the 6 was 4/5, the better bet was obviously the 5--which won at $8.00. Compared to the odds on the 6, the 3 to 1 odds for the 5 were generous. The 56 quiniela returned $7.00. While an argument could be made that a box exacta for the same amount might have returned a few dollars more, the argument is better made after the fact. Reality is that the exacta pools at Hollywood are often overbet relative to the quiniela pools; the quiniela was the best bet to make under the circumstances.
