People Need Some Perspective

Listen I am not heartless. No one likes to see a horse break down. Love Go for Wand and still think of her awful end. It is one of the unforunate realities of the sport. But people need to get some perspective here. The reactions from many are nothing short of hysterics. Looking for sweeping overhaul of the game. Blaming the surface, the vet, the breaking through the gate, the rigors of the Triple Crown and so on. Saying how this will ruin racing. If Greeley's Legacy broke down you would have seen very little reaction. None of the above issues would be discussed-if at all only in passing. It is ONLY because Barbaro won the Derby and was the heavy favorite in the Preakness that people are in hysterics.
