Sunday Silence....my co-all time favorite racehorse (Holy Bull being the other one....)

Very disturbing news....one would have to think a lesser horse would have been put down at this point....

Thank goodness for VCR's! If I am ever feeling the urge for some nostalgic racing, watching Easy Goer and Sunday Silence go at it does the trick for me.

Hey all...

Wow. You hate to hear news like this, especially in pairs. Sunday Silence is now in critical condition. This horse, for those who don't remember, was the model of a horse that was regarded as blue-collar at best and managed to win some of horse racing's greatest and biggest contests.
Left Bank is another great one. I would have loved to see him race in the fall against horses like Sky Jack and War Emblem. Apparently, a somewhat-good horse by the name of Point Given also had a bout with the same kind of colic but pulled through.
Anyway, both were great horses and will be missed.

Hey...

It appears that one of Japan's most dominant sires and America's top racehorses is going to be euthanized within a week. Sunday Silence's laminitis (The inflammation of tissues in a hoof.) has gotten much worse over the past few days.
He has sired many champions in Japan, including the 1995 Japanese Derby winner.
As of Left Bank, he is still in very serious condition. The next few days will be crucial. We can only pray for these two champs...

Sunday Silence sounds like he's in terrible shape. Why are they waiting??

And if they are going to continue trying to save him, don't they have some sort of sling that they can slip him into and elevate him off the ground for a while??? I know these devices exist. I've seen them used on a few television programs about horses...
