3 new Exceller Fund auctions are now up - saluting Derby winners past and present. Funds raise will help TEF purchase and provide for Thoroughbreds that may otherwise be sent to slaughter. The need is greater than ever!

NORTHERN DANCER - RARE POSTER

Few could have foreseen the tremendous impact this stocky little bay would have on the Thoroughbred racing and breeding industry. This 22 x 28" poster was given out by Thoroughbred Publications at a convention in the early 1990’s. (Note - the poster does have a small 1/2" tear at the top which has been mended. The poster is on thick paper stock.) Even though he was still active at stud, Northern Dancer’s list of champions was already impressive. This poster features a beautiful portrait of Northern Dancer, his Race Record, Pedigree, and list of Champions.

FERDINAND - 1986 Kentucky Derby Win - Bloodhorse
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8807805588
This 20 year old issue of The Blood-Horse features in-depth articles on Ferdinand, his victory in the Kentucky Derby, his trainer Charlie Whitingham, his jocky Bill Shoemaker, his owner Howard Keck, and his pedigree. The issue even has a foal photo of Ferdinand which reminds us of how every foal has that potential for greatness as well as tragedy.

RAISE A NATIVE - Article from Thoroughbred Times 1994
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8807813287
This is a somewhat unusual auction for The Exceller Fund. This is not a photo, or a poster, or even an entire magazine. This is a 2-page article that was taken from the April 18, 1994 edition of the Thoroughbred Times magazine. The article is an in-depth feature of Raise A Native who has a racing career that was as brilliant as it was short, and a stud career that was as brilliant as it was long.
Ironically, prior to Barbaro’s stunning victory in this year’s Kentucky Derby, no horse with Raise A Native on his dam’s side of the pedigree had ever won this coveted event. This two-page article from 11 years ago details the pedigree and performance from this legendary sire line.

You still have a couple of days left on one of the auctions for the 2006 Kentucky Oaks Poster signed by the artist, Erica Nordean.
