I did think it was strange that Baffert was being paid and not the owner.

However, I assumed that the owner and racing manager knew. Beyer indicates otherwise.

If I was the owner or racing manager, I would be upset. Not about not getting the money, which is actually almost inconsequential, but the lack of forthrightness (dishonesty?) from my trainer.
