Is this the best system in horse racing?

Bet the horse with the TOP BEYER in the Kentucky Derby

WINNING QUALIFIERS 1992-2005
($2 return)

2002 War Emblem 112 ($43)
2000 Fusaichi Pegasus 111 ($6.60)
1999 Charistmatic 108 ($64.60)
1997 Silver Charm 110 ($10)
1992 Lil E. Tee 107 ($35.60)

There were 19 qualifiers in total and a $2 bet on all of them would have returned $159.80

Maybe add an odds qualifier. Best Beyer "if" 15/1 up today....

You only lose two winners and a bunch of losers. How does that do in your test?

OK, a little clarification is needed. Was this the best LAST RACE Beyer? Was it the best last race Beyer at a distance within 1 furlong of the Derby (that would eliminate Charismatic). And if anybody had the best Beyer in a sprint, it would be meaningless. Also, Silver Charm lost in the SA Derby (am I correct in assuming thats where he got his 110?) so somebody was either just as good or a hair better.

It is the TOP BEYER figure regardless of race, but if you think about it, the fig is likely to come in a competitive race, ie. a graded stakes race, as a 3yo rather than in a maiden as a 2yo for obvious reasons.

So what do you think of SINISTER MINISTER as this years qualifier?

I think the top beyer horse SINISTER MINISTER will put up a good show, particularly if drawn low. From a wide draw I just dont see him getting home, and I think he will be picked up late by a stalker. However was The BlueGrass Stakes his very best effort, can he improve on that? If anything tries to run with him they will be scared of burnout, and there is every chance he could get an easy lead and go wire to wire.

My personal fancy is SWEETNORTHERN SAINT. Visually I think that horse was so impressive last time out and has Beyer figures to make him a high quality winner.

Sinister Minister will put up a good show for about a mile. SNS remains visually impressive in the mornings here at Churchill. He's got that long stride that wins these types of races.

small sample set.

how could there only be 19 qualifiers?

In those 14 years if there can only be 1 horse with the best beyer figure unless there is more than 1 horse with the best fig. I think in 1 year 3 horses shared the top fig. I hope that explains why there were 19 qualifiers.

No, I think the system that picks the first horse past the wire the most times is the best system in horse racing.
