File for your future handicapping reference! In addition to Polytrack, a recent Lexington newspaper article highlighted planned changes also in the works at Keeneland. Expected to be completed in time for the '06 Fall Meet.

No more sloppy tracks at Keeneland
http://www.kentucky.com/mld/kentucky/sports/horse_racing/keeneland/14383803.htm

1. New track layout and surface.
"The track will be reconfigured, with wider, more symmetrical turns" - From the overhead graphic shot, http://www.kentucky.com/multimedia/kentucky/20_graphic.gif (http://www.kentucky.com/multimedia/kentucky/20_graphic.gif) , it looks like the clubhouse turn will change the most due to the widening and lengthening by 111.5 feet of the Homestretch (Some races could be affected! )

2. More room for spectators.
"17,000 square feet of additional space for fans, room for about 3,500 more people."

3. Technological improvements.
"Lighting around the track will be upgraded for training hours and new wiring will bring high-definition TV and radio frequency technology" (Not quite ready for electronic microchip data-collection, but the handwriting is on the wall! )

4. New tote-board will give more information.
"The digital LED boards will be able to deliver clear color video, photos and mutuel graphics." (Print copy had artist's rendering - missing in web version of story. Also had a cutaway side-view illustration of the Polytrack racing surface composition/construction)

BTW: Don't forget to check out the April 15th Spring meet "OFF AND RUNNING" slide show! Great pics with sound! http://www.heraldleaderphoto.com/multimedia/offand/running.html

great, now even more delays for prices. noone has more tote delays than Kenneland. or so it seems. and when they have problems, it's lengthy delays!

new toteboard? great, now even more delays for prices. noone has more tote delays than Kenneland. or so it seems. and when they have problems, it's lengthy delays! Maybe, but when they finally get the results and extra info up, it'll be looking real snazzy and purtee! :D

BTW: On the bright side, looks like there will be a giant video screen in the middle of the toteboard, for I'm guessing to show real-time video of the race, simulcasts and replays of the finish, which you'll be able to watch from the stands! :jump: (Don't know about commercials. :bang: )
