OAKLAWN PARK RACE 7 THE INSTANT RACING BREEDERS’ CUP

We will go three deep in this $100k non-graded stake for 3-year-old fillies using CORONADO’S VISION (4), GASIA (8) and BEAU DARE (2).

CORONADO’S VISION (4) who has won two of four lifetime starts for trainer Frank Brothers who has six winners from just 39 starters this year. The daughter of Coronado’s Quest was beaten a neck last out in a Grade 3 event at Turfway. This will be her second start off a layoff and she could be the speed of the speed in this race.

GASIA (8) will be the one to benefit the most if they all try to pressure Coronado’s Vision from the start. The late-running daughter of Silver Deputy has three wins in six lifetime starts and a win and third-place finish in three lifetime starts at Oaklawn.

BEAU DARE (2) drops after running fifth in a Grade 2 at Churchill last November. Has been working well for return has shows a pair of bullets in last two works

KEENELAND RACE 8 THE COMMONWEALTH BREEDERS’ CUP

A full field of 12 7-furlong specialists are scheduled to face the starter in this Grade 2 event and we will go three deep in this event using VICARAGE (1), KELLY’S LANDING (5) AND MISTER FOTIS (12).

VICARAGE has not been seen since running second in the Ack Ack at Churchill Downs October 30, but draws the rail and is conditioned by Todd Pletcher who is winning at a 28 percent clip with his horses returning to the races after a 61-180 day break. The 4-year-old son of Vicar is 1-1 at 7 furlongs and has been working well for his return.

KELLY’S LANDING has won 6 of 11 lifetime starts and 1 of 2 going 7 furlongs. The 5-year-old gelded son of Patton won an optional $150K claimer at Gulfstream last out and will be making his second start after a layoff. Edgar Prado, who rode this one in his most recent at Gulfstream retains the mount and should get a good trip from just off the pace today.

MISTER FOTIS Loves going 7 furlongs having won 4 of 8 lifetime at the distance and come into this one off a win in a Grade 2 7-furlong event at Gulfstream.

KEENLAND RACE 9 THE BLUEGRASS

Nine Derby hopefuls are entered to make their final prep before traveling to Churchill Downs and we will use two in here BLUEGRASS CAT (2) AND FIRST SAMURAI (5).

BLUEGRASS CAT makes his third start after a layoff for trainer Todd Pletcher, who won this race last year with Bandini, and has been first of second in 5 of 6 lifetime starts. This one ran second in the Tampa bay Derby last out rating behind soft fractions. Would expect to see faster fractions this time around and should set up his stretch run perfectly.

FIRST SAMURAI has not made it to the winner’s circle since winning the Champagne at Belmont October 8 but this is a horse many people like for the Kentucky Derby. The son of Giant’s Causeway has not really done anything wrong this year running second in the Hutcheson as well as the Fountain of Youth. The speed-favoring Keeneland strip could be just what the doctor ordered for the front-runner.

OAKLAWN PARK RACE 9 THE ARKANSAS DERBY

If we can get through the first three legs of the national pick 4 we will be three deep in the final leg using LAWYER RON (4), PRIVATE VOW (7) and RED RAYMOND (8).

It is hard to say anything negative about LAWYER RON who has won his last five starts and is a perfect 2-2 over the Oaklawn strip. The biggest knock on this one Saturday is that there is a very big field and it is hard to swallow even money or less on a horse.

PRIVATE VOW showed nothing in the Rebel running 7th of 10 in his first start since November. Trainer Steve Asmussen hits with 21 percent of his runners making their second start after a 45-180 day rest.

RED RAYMOND had big trouble in the Rebel and circled the field to finish second behind Lawyer Ron. This dead closer will need some pace help early on and clear sailing late but if the race falls apart this one could pick up all the pieces at a big price.

The $54 pick-4 ticket looks like this:

2,4,8/1,5,12/2,5/4,7,8
