I came across this site which gives money management advice for playing the stock market. Some interesting similarities to the races. Even just the first three suggestions:

1. Bet no more than 2% of portfolio value per trade

2. Limit your total risk at any time to 20% (say 1 day at the track?)

3. Keep your risk to reward ratio at a minimum of 2:1, preferably 3:1
