World Youth Week has hit this fair city with a vengence--and on July 28 the big kahuna--(the poor guy pretty well dozes off in his food) is holding an all night vigil where 750,000 people are expected....

I have only 4 words to describe my mindset at this point in time-

BEAM ME UP SCOTTY

YOUTH week!? No wonder then the ol' guy is in attendance, after that bishop at the American Bishop's Conference revealed to the world how "turned on" the pope gets with young people.

I felt exactly the same way seeing "grown adults" kneeling before the guy weeping and wailing their eyeballs out. Pretty disgusting.

Geesh, Canuck, this is the second time we're in agreement on something. If this keeps up, we could wind up becoming the best of pals.

Are we really sure this guy is still alive? Seems like they're always propping him up.

Maybe they're working on the third Weekend at Bernie's flick?

Maybe the guy is just dedicated to his beliefs and trying to do what he can. It must be pretty hard for him to travel, yet he
does.
I am sure he has done more good for the world than bunch of horse players.
Cheap target, guys.

You'd think a guy so tight with God would get hooked up with a working, functional body.. Guess he pissed him off somewhere along the way..

Yeah, zee pope is a real stand up kinda guy. Just a fountain of virtue bubbling over, right, Tom?

He visits countries that border the U.S., but avoids coming here and flies over us, not wanting to face any music on the huge church scandal here.
And as though this wasn't enough, several Catholic victims of sex abuse have tried for weeks and months even to get an audience with him in Canada, but this "spiritual powerhouse" wouldn't give any of them the time of day -- wouldn't even give them 30 minutes of his precious time. They were told by Vatican spokesmen that the ol' guy was running on a tight schedule. What a first rate hypocrite!

His display of piety to the public and his virtually hidden and despicable insensitivity to the victims brings this passage of scripture to mind, spoken by Jesus to the corrupt religious leaders in Jerusalem:

"Woe to you scribes and Pharisees, hyporcrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which on the outside appear beautiful, but inside they are full of dead men's bones and all uncleanness. Even so you too outwardly appear righteous to men, but inwardly you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness" (Mat. 23:27,28)

In my book, the pope is a legit target for criticism and even condemnation, for he has completely ignored the far weighter duties of his office.

At least he dosen't spout mindless babble all over the internet.
Boxcar, you really should give porn a try. At lest one of your wrists would get a much deserved rest!

Far better for the pope to be the top religious leader of a major Christian denomination and a hypocrite all at once and simultaneously than for him to merely spout mindless (and harmless, if you recall) babble, eh?

Well, it might work wonders for your wrists, but it surely hasn't done anything for your noggin -- per you inability to properly reason and order what the pope's moral priorities should be. You'll need to do a lot better than this to get me into your World of Smut.

(Folks, I did say once that I saw no socially redeeming value in pornography. Thanks to the last few posts by Porn's Poster Boy we now have plenty of empirical evidence to support my contention.)

Got to go to bed - big day tomorrow. Can't play you all the time, my little fiddle. Maybe another tune this weekend.

Understandably. I have to think you're frequently preoccupied fingering your own small fiddle in light of your "intellectual pursuits" into Smutology.

Do us all a favor and give it a rest, already. You are ill-equipped in every way.

Boxcar Its pretty sad to see a world figure brought out like some kind of trick pony.It strikes me like how Muhammed Ali was wheeled out for sport shows...just bad taste.Maybe we can get Nancy to prop up Ronny for old times sake....Nahh,even though that guy did more to destroy the oil industry here in America,I would'nt wish that kind of humiliation on anybody.
