So you bet the 4th at Aqueduct and

you're sitting pretty when Mike Luzzi insists on needlessly opening up early

and you hook him entering the stretch and pass him mid stretch

and you're looking like a cinch

and your BUG boy keeps regripping the reins (very effective)

and he finally is able to go to the whip (once or twice)

of course he never gets to pumping on the horse

and in the meantime

the LUG hammers lefthanded with the whip (3 or 4 times to the BUG's 1) then goes to pumping with some power (like any competent journeyman)

and draws away again, on a prematurely/needlessly used horse

some habits are never put to rest: it's incredible how many races BUGs lose
cause they just can't finish

combine that with a lack of experience
and

why am I riding Kaenel (unless I have a dead speed horse) to save 5 pounds?

LUG over BUG
in this one

Who's gonna quantify this one for me?

he rode it well as expected by the energy distribution of the horses. Seasoned riders don't try to change horse's styles

what I meant, it was the HORSE opening up, not the rider which was easily predictable.
