Should Patrick Valenzula be elected to the Hall of Fame?

The best gate jockey I have seen........ We all know the problems P Val has had off the track. Sometimes P Val can pull your hair out..... but he does have great hand and great timing....... This year he was passed on by in the Hall of Fame... http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/horse/columns/story?columist+finley_bill&id=2356400 What do you think? ............

I think P Val should be there for the rider that he is. Then we can get into certain other things which this article states right of the bat. Surfdog, sounds like you do not beleive he should be kept from being a 'high' caliper jock. Don't forget how much drugs, and not staying away from, will be a detriment to pros. I have watched him for years. If I had a horse with some expectancey, P Val on would be a plus.
Maybe the Horse 'people' want a certain image. I don't know. All I know, Red Pollard was a good jockey too?

.. he just pulls his own hair out... or shaves it off.

No, this bum should not even be allowed to VISIT the Hall of Fame let alone be elected to it.

He is the SoCal 'poster boy' jockey; all will continue to be forgiven and it is going to take a terrible injury, or another jockey getting killed one day due to ol' PVal riding high on whatever he ingests for this to change. I pray I'm wrong but we have become a people who no longer care to take a stand on principle or take proactive action, but we only 'react' and whine about what happens afterwards.

What will come, will come. He probably will be elected.

I remember when PVal shaved his body so the stewards could not take hair samples for a drug test........ I believe the California Racing Commission coupled with the stewards of the So Ca tracks gave PV a free get out of jail pass....some years ago I cannot remember the date.... PV had a million dollar K to ride Paulsen's horses..after a big weekend PV won two big race with the colts and Sunday won with the fillies. The next Racing day....... PV is a no show... Paulsen fires him and PV goes on a binge...... should have been thrown out of racing that year... but no.... PV has three or four more incidents with Meth......... As to his ability..... he is a loose cannon out of the gate....... how many times have you handicapped a race with one speed horse in the race...no way.. PV sends his horse in a speed dual too and burns out both horses..... PV had no chance to win or hit the board..... Thats my thoughts on PV.....:bang:
