Was gonna play the first few races at Mountaineer tonight, anyone care to post thoughts as we go, kinda like the earlier thread rocker and I used to play Belmont.

Lemme know

well, here goes, even if I am just playing with myself (err, you get it). My meager experience at Mountaineer tells me front speed wins a majority of the short races and shippers are to be feared so that would give the nod to the #5, but I also know favorites fail here alot so this one is a toughy to start with, gotta go with the 5 to win and an exacta to spice things up
5,6/1,3,5,6 $12 for each full ticket.

Got the easy $6.80 chalk winner in the first race, but missed the exacta by a mile (or at least 5 furlongs)

Hopefully better in the next race.

Any input out there???

Looking at the 5 (chalk) 9 and a possible wire job by the 10 if he can hang on.

THOUGHTS???

like the 9 best of all, so 9 to win for me and a 3 horse ex box looking for a homerun on this one 3-9-10. This one will be a bomber or will bomb either way you heard it here first, or at least you heard it here.

5 minutes to post and 5 and 9 look good to me.

tough to throw out the 5, your right, backing up the earlier play with a 5-9 box, just in case.

Best of luck to ya Kitts

Race 3
The favorite is ok (#5) and the 8 will be in the money

Race 4
The 2 to win and Exacta box with the 1

penguinfan

hard to believe they just bet the 9 to chalk and are letting the 5 go off at 4-1, still 1 min to post, but I hate having 2 favs in a row at the Mountain.

Damn, 9-3 would have been an even $100 exacta, stupid 6 horse. Never leave a Dale Baird hore out at Mountaineer I guess.
9 finished a "game second" isn't that what the pro handicappers say when a horse they threw out dusts their top choice?
Onward and Foreward.

Toss up here between the 2,3,and 5. I see someone pounded the 3 early as he was 20-1 ML and first flash of the tote board is 7-2, now back to 5-1, gotta watch moves like that at the Mountain.

THOUGHTS?!?!??!?!

Gonna go ahead and put the 3 on top as the winner, would have been my first choice anyway and the early tote action is a plus as well as the generous number of 8-1 right now, hope I get close to that at post time.

Penguin guy-
The casion up here in Vegas had to take down the phone betting for some reason so I am catching up with some much needed reserach so my comments will not be timely. But, since I already 'capped MNR I will share my picks:
Race 5:
The 8 to win with a 6-7-8 Exacta box
Race 6:
The 4 to win and the 4-6-7 Exacta Box
Race 7:
The 4 to 2in and the 4-9 Exacta box
8th: 8 to win and box 2-6-8
9th: The 1 to win and box 1-9
Good luck to us.

Damn right there better be an inquiry, my 3 got body checked around the turn and gave up, holding with mountaineer tradition there will be no change in the order of finish I am sure.

Kitts, I apprectiate the much welcome input, timely or otherwise!

$60+ winner in that 3rd race, you gotta expect that at Mountaineer though, that what makes it fun here.

Any way I look at it this is a three horse race all on the inside 1,2,3 (refer to Kitts reccommendation of 1-2 box as well)

I like the 2 the best.

Time for me to get back in the pay line, so Birzer better give this one and honest ride, 2 to win is only play on this one, those exacta losses sure eat at the bankroll.

Good to see ya back here, careful coat-tailing a guy who's has 1 chalk winner out of 3 races (still pissed about the second race)

Hey guys,

When you get an opportunity you ought to check out the war room. You may find it more comfortable for interactive chat. Quite a few nights we have h'capping sessions over there.

BTW P'fan ... is your nick a hockey reference by any chance?

thanks for the heads up billw, I tend to avoid chat rooms simply because I am not always next to the computer and hate to cyber-ignore someone.

Yes my nick-name is a reference to my home town hockey team, I am with them till the end, which may be soon the way they played last season :( :( :( :(

Thanks Rocker, needed it, Katts had the exacta as well, so I hope more people drop by with some input, it sure helps. Not sure what happened to the 3 in that race, but the 1-2 ran true to form.

I grew up in PGH and still follow what's left of a great sports tradition. Pirates got killed today after tearing the birds up for a couple of nights :) I had the "all you can take" hockey package from Primestar a few years back till that got screwed up. Now I'm stuck with ESPN ... which will probably refuse to air any more Penguin games unless Mario performs a miracle this year.

I mentioned the war room thinking you being fairly new, hadn't come across it yet.

Good luck and hit em hard,

Bill

penguinfan

LOL BIll, yea ESPN tends to drop your team at the first sign of ya going south, no Mario= no air time.

Well I can certainly see the current 3/2 favorite fitting in this race, but I like the 7 a whole bunch more at the current 5-1 price tag.

7 to win and an exacta 6-7 box just in case.
