Saturday's feature thoroughbred race, a maiden claimer for $7500, on the opening day card from Manor Downs includes, #8 Miss Spice. Miss Spice returns from a 2030 day layoff, but is fresh for this event with two recent works, including a blistering 4 furlong 52.6 gate work. She went off as a respected 36-1 in her last start a Remington Park on 5 August 2000. Bettors could have been intimidated by the fact she has been pulled up or eased in at least half of her starts.

I think she is fit & ready today and would recommend to watch the toteboard on this one. Austin area race fans planning to go to Manor Downs should wear preventative riot gear in case she hits the board and fans claim a fix is in.

Fac,

Can you give me the trainer's stats with runners returning from layoffs of 2,000-2,500 days? :D

Is she racing against her own daughter?

Might have to take a run out there to catch that race. Didn't even know they were running.

This sure was an "interesting" race. I found myself amused by a number of things: Miss Spice was only 10-1 and actually took more money than 3 other horses in the field; an 8 year old maiden nearly won the whole race; the winner was only 4-1 and yet no winning exacta tickets were sold.

...add no winning quinella tickets and the trifecta was paid to people who had ALL in the second slot (bizarre) with the correct third place finisher...

Does anyone think she might have been negatively impacted by an off track (sloppy), afterall she broke well from the gate?

Just needed a tightener, I reckon.

Sounds to me like the owners need to be "eased" out of the business...Poor horse!!
