Is there a site that someone can direct me to with the abbreviations used for Euro tracks? I realize that the DRF prints the whole name, but the racing post uses abbreviations and those are what I'm after. I've tried some Google searches but perhaps I'm putting in poor key words.

You can also try the Brisnet Track Listing (http://www.brisnet.com/cgi-bin/static.cgi?page=tracklist)

Racingpost was hard to figure out, I found certain tracks but not a list.

The second though is exactly what I was looking for!! Thank you so much, I'm sorrry I never found that myself.

Bris is the right place, but the last time I looked, they didn't have Newmarket(GB) & replied to me they were updating the list - I seem to remember it was a dozen pages!

Do you know what Newmarket is? That's one I noticed too.

It is a premier GB track. Unfortunately, copy & paste only gave me this, but search Racing Post courses for Newmarket.

This is a little OT, but there is a charming article on Caribbean racing, by Al Smallman, in the March issue of American Turf Monthly.

Hi,

Regarding Newmarket, England, this is the Headquarters of English flat, turf racing.

There are actually two racecourses ( tracks) there, while the surrounding area has many different yards or stables.

Cambridge ( home of the university) is the nearest big town.

If you play at either of the Newmarket tracks, beware! They are long, wide, straight courses and, often, the runners divide into two or even three groups.

Some people love it, but it's a place I hate!

Sean Rua.

TRAVIS,
If you don't have 59 for the U.K. -and- 27 for Ireland, you're missing some.

A new English racecourse, GREAT LEIGHS, which is scheduled to open in early October, will bring that U.K. total to 60.

I noticed that Equibase and BRIS each use some different foreign track abbreviations. For example, Tokyo is TOK in EQU pp's, but *TK in BRIS; Goodwood is GOO in EQU, but GWD in BRIS.

Anyone know if Equibase has a list posted, or if anyone has an official list?

Thanks.
