King's Swan, dubbed the "King of Aqueduct" for his great success at the Queens, N.Y., racetrack, had to be euthanized this week because of complications associated with a leg injury. He was 26.

He was a warrior. Pretty sure I remember him winning a race on the first Maryland Million day, the Sprint I believe.

Prior to Richard Dutrow, Sr. does anyone know who the previous trainer or trainers of KING'S SWAN were? H.Allen Jerkens? Richard Nieminski?

King's Swan was owned and lovingly cared for by Jean Uhl-Lazio who was his exercise rider and to whom he was given after his retirement. Jean is my brother-in-law's niece so I often got to see the great champ at her farm on family visits. It was always a pleasure to see the big friendly guy - a truly noble animal in every way. I've been in touch with Jean and she greatly appreciates the kind words from everyone on the board.
I'm attaching a photo of King and Jean taken when he was 21.
R.I.P. big guy.
