View Full Version : So What is my Problem

So what is my problem?

My main issue is that some people take themselves way too seriously.

Lighten UP – the sky is not falling. The United Nations claims a world
population of 6.4 billion. The world will get along without us just
fine. Human history has been much worse than the basic luxuries
that the common man and woman take for granted today!! This is
even true in the so called 3rd World where most of their population
has been in slavery.

Love Bush – hate Bush
Love Clinton – hate Clinton
The emperor truly has no cloth.

What some of you may not know, the immediate quality of your
personal lives is more related to your local Mayor, Governor and
senators. If you live in a small state like Idaho, the president
is damned near irrelevant in Des Moines.

Some have said, “Liberalism has no influence in this administration.”
Apologies to Sec. and LBJ for my prior posts.

So what!!! Having travel extensively in this great country of ours, I can
say form first hand experience – In some major cities – liberalism is
the only thought. Witness the infamous 9th circuit court in California.
A few of the ninth circuit decisions are down right reminiscent of a Banana
Republic. To those of you how will misinterpret that last sentence, I do no disrespect
to any South Americans. It is a figure of speech, an axiom.

Lighten-up. In older days, Christian fire and brimstone preachers shouted the
end is near....

Now we have science shouting the same thing. Global Warming. Aids. Avian flu
Rap music, etc…. The human race has survived a lot worse.

I like the way you said that, Bala
I agree, too much hand wringing nonesense. Emotionalism.

Whenever I start getting wrapped around the axle about something, I go back and get out my old copy of Looking Out for Number One by Robert J. Ringer, and re-read his chapter on "The Perspective Hurdle", which he attached the most importance to in terms of the issues that you have to deal with successfully in order to maximize your success and enjoyment in life. I don't buy into all of his Ayn Rand/objectivist philosophy, but that was one section of the book that I still find perceptive and useful. I would recommend it to anyone.

"Wrapped around the axle". I like that.

I don't get to philosophical about all this nonsense. I figure in 50 years most of us will be dead.

Too seriously? I'm stark raving mad that you would dare to say something like that to ME! I'm 25, 6'6", 250 lbs. and a flaming liberal who looks for suits to beat up!(LOL!)
_______
Now, was that serious enough for you"
Excuse me, I thought the internet was where you could go to leave reality for a few minutes and say what's on you mind!
To the vast majority, politics of any kind and world affairs is irrelevant. Lucky for me this is a thinking person's forum!

this sentence left me a little puzzled, though: "If you live in a small state like Idaho, the president is damned near irrelevant in Des Moines."
