I've heard ALL NFL players have limited life expectancies. I believe the median age to die at for NFL players is around 58. I think weight is part of it, but so are the constant pounding, injuries, surgeries, wear and tear, steroids and drugs used to mask pain. Speaking of heavy NFL players, just saw the Fridge on Best Damn Sports Show last night. He looked like he hasn't lost any weight.

Val is right. It's been the DLS of the NFL/AFL forever. But, come on. It's just part of the cost of the gladiatorial business.

Real sports (HBO) ran a piece on the subject a month ago and came to the same conclusion. Some of the players stated that is just the cost of the game.

The problem is not when they play but when they stop playing but the eating amount keeps on going.
