NY State insists on a takeout hike on NYRA races & has plans to allow for VLT casinos to operate within 15 miles of Aqueduct & Yonkers. Oh yes. These things make perfect sense! Just as brilliant like opening OTBs next door to NY racetracks.

Remember right after 9/11, on live tv he's escorting Bush on the tragic site, where he had offices, and he stumbled on how many stories the buildings had. And this is someone with presidential aspirations-- heaven help us.

Stumbled on how many stories? Whoop-de-fockin-do. Building facts weren't much of a priority at the time, if you recall.

I love Ny racing and the product it use to present, every year to horse players. But, the last 4 or 5 years has been ridiculous. Each year worse than the last. Until finally, it's almost like a bad comedy, with the State of Ny continually shooting itself in the foot.

They have driven off more knowledgable old players of their racing product, than they will ever attract in new players, of the game.

I'm talking about Wacki-Pataki and the state legislature.

Tripping over a rock is nothing - it's the ones he keeps throwing at us that hurt.

There is an abundance of news (changes) , and events emanating from NYRA and NY that I'm holding off on comment.

I'm sideways over the news that the NYSWB has taken over pre-race testing. Are they going to compensate NYRA for the expense of the detention barns?

The 2005 numbers were released this week. Those were poor.

I don't want to burn to much energy or time on the recent NYRA news. Including the piece that the recent deal for 30 million is such a high wire act that they need a NOVENA to make it work until the VLT's kick in.

I'm just waiting until Belmont spring meet gets cooking and see what the next 90 days brings before I disect the day to day discourgaing news I see.

Having a little trouble following this thread, the takeouts at Belmont are very reasonable the last time I was there. Isnt it 15% for the win, place and show bets? So are these track take outs going up? Sorry not as up on the lingo as I should be...Perhaps a summary of what is going up there in NY state. Are they adding more off track bettting places? are they increasing track take out? BOTH??

I guess I dont know what VLT's are and how they work. Sorry I am so lame. Just assume I am a martian and have just landed on this planet and am trying to study human entertainments.
