Lone Star Park has started a player rewards program. You get 1 point for every dollar wagered.

The lowest reward - a large coffee for 1500 points.

So, bet $1500 and you get a free cup of coffee!

Maybe a cup of coffee is how long it takes to lose $15000 there!LOL!!

LS is a great track to bet. Big fields and many strong trainer patterns. Asmussen seems to have a never ending supply of 2yo by Valid Expectations and they all can run. C R Trout is dangerous with longshot first timers. Is it spring yet?

You used to get your card swiped every time you went to the track. Then you would receive freebies in the mail every so often. Vouchers of $5, $10, even up to $20 on occasion. You would get free programs, drinks, food, etc. Now with the new system, they want you to swipe your own card EVERY TIME YOU MAKE A WAGER ! Who has time for that crap? It is ridiculous to waste the time to try to earn 2500 pts for a hot dog ! Basically, they save postage and paper and do not have to give anything away for free anymore. No more free admission, free parking in the mail. No more vouchers. No more anything. Lone Star does not care about the fan. I'll keep my card so I can get in for a dollar instead of three, but that's about it. If I want a cup of coffee or a hot dog....I guess I will have to buy it!

I wish they would use all that money they save to fix the damn TV's and put in some new carpet and a paint job so the place looks a little better, but I doubt that they will.

I feel the same way about Hollywood Park and Santa Anita (California)

That is why I bet at home. All that time driving, high prices for food and drink (beer), and a 9.00 cover price. If I do not like the race, go do something else for a while.

What is really weird is more races to play at home than at the track.

Bringing this thread back as Lone Star Park opens in a couple of weeks. The simulcast building patio had 8 broken TV monitors yesterday. The patio furniture is uncomfortable and I haven't noticed any new carpet or painting being done. Sure doesn't look like they plan on upgrading anything and I'm still 1498 points away from a free coffee ! At least I still get in for a buck instead of three !

The second the Breeder's Cup was over, they stopped giving a crap how the track looked.

The last time I went to Lone Star was for the Breeder's Cup. Last year the fields were smaller and I couldn't get excited enough to drive the hour it takes to go. Lone Star remains as the only US track that I can't wager on from home, so unless the fields are larger this year (and more competitive) I'll be skipping Lone Star again.

The problem with the fields isnt going to go away anytime soon. LAD opens earlier now and has slot money, so unless you have a Texas Bred horse, there's not a lot of incentive to run at LS.

Lone Star is low because Steve Asmussen and Cole Norman horses dominate the short fields.
