3-1 for conference semis. 52-43 ATS on the season (55%)

DENVER -3 over Pitt--Denver is the superior team and playing at home and has a scheduling advantage. Denver is 6-2 against quality teams while Pitt is 5-4. Against common opponents Denver is 5-0 while Pitt is 2-3. ANd now Pitt must go own the road for the 5th time in 6 weeks.....and play in altitude. Denver not only wins this, they will smash either Seattle or Carolina. This line will be 3.5 by Monday morning.

Carolina +4 over SEA

Panthers are a better team w/a better defense. Alexander won't be 100% and Delhomme is a better big game QB (unbeaten ATS in postseason) than Hasselbeck. Steve Smith is simply the best WR in the NFL.

I made Denver and Seattle both 5 point Favorites.

Interesting how the offshores opened Seattle -4 1/2 while the Vegas books opened them at 6. The line at both is now 4, and since the real big, smarter money tends to be offshore, I think its just more evidence that Carolina is the right side here.

Valuist,

My only quibble is with Carolina's shot versus Denver. They would (will?) have a fighting chance. No crush. Pittsburgh are subject to a bounce, by the way. And I always expect Polamalu to throw the game away somehow. Poor Cowher has to talk to the guy every stinkin' game! Troy Boy, just be like Ronnie Lott. Content yourself with merely taking people's heads off. No penalties, no dives through the air with no shot at a tackle, no laterals. I know you're a football player, but you MUST have a brain. You're a hominid, fer God's sake. Act like one. :)

Toetoe-

I agree on Pittsburgh bouncing. 5th road game in 6 weeks. They went on the road to beat hated division rival Cincy, then on the road to beat the number 1 seeded Colts. Judging by their reaction, it looked like that was their Super Bowl. Also, those numbers aren't necessarily how I would line the games. Personally, I'd never price Seattle as bigger than a 3 pt fave over Carolina.

Denver is UNDEFEATED at home this year, but If you watched the game against New England they certainly were not impressive. New England gave them the game by turning the ball over 5 times. Pittsburgh will have to play a super game to beat them, but I think it will happen. Bill Cowher maybe due, to Win a Championship Game, he's certanly had no Luck Winning the AFC championship game at home in Pittsburgh. Cowher has been a fixture coaching that team for years, The Steelers may surprise. ;)

Agreed they did not play their best game but they were opportunistic. In the past 2 years, there were instances when I thought New England didn't play that well but "found" ways to win. Good teams find ways to win even when they don't bring their "A" game.

No Plummer apologist here (ell, maybe Christopher Plummer), but Jakey just threw a needlethreader that was so brazen, so astounding, I'm not sure even BFav would attempt it. Aw, whom'm I kidding? Of course he would. Anyway, a thing of beauty. An exciting field goal coming up, probably.

Pittsburg linebacker who made that PHANTOM interception last out seems to be all over the field on every play he's in. AMAZING guy.

Remember my prediction. He'll make enough boneheaded plays to give Cowher a coronary, maybe in the Snoozer Bowl. Scaling blockers in a single bound makes for good replays, but he's out of control, and a smart opponent will be able to exploit that.
