View Full Version : Disadvantages to Pinnacle?

I've used Youbet.com since I became an online horseplayer -- with brief diversions to Brisbet to save some money on PP's. But, on reading these boards, it seems there's some good use of Pinnacle (and probably some other websites) that offer rebates. I know the whole rebate story, and I love the idea of 7% back -- it can really make a difference. Before I take the plunge, however, I wanted to know if there were any downsides/bad experiences with this website.

Thanks.

The only problem I have had was in getting locked out of a race well before it actually went off. No worries, it only cost me $2400... Still, Pinnacle is the place to be because of the rebates, just get your bets in early.

Well, to start with it is technically "illegal", as is any other offshore casino if you are in the U.S. From what I understand though, "they" are not pursuing anyone.

Secondly, all tracks have maximum race payouts, so if you play tri's, supers, Pk 3's or 4's, then you might find yourself only receiving a percentage of the track payout. Of course, if your wager was actually in the pools, then you would have lowered the payout anyway.

I personally don't have too much of a problem with them cutting off the races. I have a game plan set well before post, so I input my wagers in plenty of time. If you like to wait until the last possible minute, you may have problems.

With that said, I think Pinnacle is absolutely awesome! The rebates are fantastic, the fact they book your wagers can be a tremendous advantage, and of course you'll never receive a W2-G.

I might add I feel very secure with them as well. I have made numerous withdrawals via Neteller and check, and they are extremely prompt. The Neteller withdrawal is usually processed within 30 minutes, and the checks are received in two business days.

All in all, I say you should go for it. :)

Best,

That statement is interesting, on one hand it is "technically illegal" and the other hand never receive a W-2G.

We will ignore the fact that not recording income on the income tax return is tax evasion.

Of course, the asssumption is for the entire year, the net is income

On major tracks GP, KEE, BEL, etc... when do they "normally" shut off win betting on these track?

Thanks

No one yet has mentioned that some allege that if you're successful, Pinnacle will start funneling your money into the pools and piggybacking their own on top of it, lowering your payoffs.

Kentucky seems to have the earliest "shut off". I've been locked out of KY races w/2-3 minutes to post before. Now, I never give myself less than 5 minutes for a Kentucky race.

Ryesteve-

I believe they may push the money thru the pools to limit their losses to profitable players but I have a hard time believing they proactively piggyback for their own profits. Horse racing is just the tip of the iceberg for an offshore. They book far more in sports wagers and probably w/their online casino as well.

Tellers do this at the track as well.

I think it has been mentioned that whenever money is involved, assume the worst. :)

Remember who's involved, we are!

Get it straight. :)

At least at the track you'd have the option of not using a teller

The tellers at the local otb where I live can't afford to piggyback my $2 wagers.

I can't remember the last time I actually used a teller to place a wager.

Self-service Automated Machines are the way to go.
