The Dow topped 11,000 today. I'm pretty sure it's good news but i'm positive the libs won't see it that way.

Of course the Libs won't see it that way. The market is the playground of the rich.

Of course the libs will love it. You think Kennedy and Kerry aren't in the market up to their eyeballs? There is a reason that no matter how many Dems are elected, the radical agendas never get out of committee.

I disapprove of every conspiracy of which I am not a part.

Yes...the rich Libs will love it privately while hating it publicly.

I'm pretty sure when it bottomed out in 2002 there was much handwringing about all the pension funds that went up in smoke, and how "the people" would never recover from such a drastic downturn. Spinmeisters must be working overtime to sell this news short.

Do as I say and not do as I do?

Why is it harder and harder to get by if the economy is supposedly turning around? Are companies just crying broke to avoid sharing anything with employees?

Well I am a Lib but not rich and I am publicly showing my joy that the market is up. Perhaps with some luck we can get back to where it was before Bush took office. :D

It was funny, Rush played a montage of lib pundits and once again they all used the same word in referring to the 11,000 mark. Psychological. This was a psychological gain. What a hoot.
lbj, the mkt hit 11,000 in 2001 before 9-11, also during Bush's tenure.

Like i said, with some luck we can get it back up to where it was during the good ol days of the Clinton presidency.
Oh and I thought you gave up on Rush.

lbj, This is an amazing economy and i'm not sure it even reached 11,000 during Clinton, but if it did, he didn't have to cope with 9-11, and then of course there was all that overpriced dot.com stock. I realize mentioning Clinton the way you did is your small way of diminishing this good news. Can't say I didn't see it coming.
I never said, i gave up on Rush, I said I didn't listen much anymore cause I was usually gone. Stayed home today.

lbj, This is an amazing economy and i'm not sure it even reached 11,000 during Clinton,

The market broke 10,000 for the first time in March of 1999. March 29th. A little over a month later, May 3rd, the Dow broke the 11,000 threshold. It finally peaked on Jan. 14, 2000 at 11,722; then the dot.com bubble burst and the market went into a volatile tailspin. By July of 2002, it bottomed out at 7702 and it's been a struggle to regain lost ground. Reaching the 10,000 plateau again is a heluva accomplishment and I'm not talking merely psychologically.
