I would vote for a good friend of mine who is now suffering through post polio syndrome. He has lost the ability to walk by himself but his good humor and gentle nature overcome infirmities I would curse at all the day long. "Woe is me" are NOT words in his vocabulary.

A unique individual I am proud to call a friend.

Last July 30th we swore him in at the Humboldt County Court House in Eureka, California to be an official Justice of the Peace for the next 24 hours and he married my wife and I in a National Redwood Forest set aside by Teddy Roosevelt near the turn of the century.

The president of the United States has been the most admired man every year since 1981 ...

So I gather that the last President who wasn't was Jimmy Carter (although his standing may have improved since he left office). (Of course, we had hostages in Iran all during his last year as President, plus rates of inflation and unemployment both in double digits.)(The so-called "misery index" combining the two was 21.98%.) I wonder who the most admired was for 1980. Reagan (even before he took office)?

I found the answer on Google. 1980 was Pope John Paul II.
