Where are those pom-pom waving Magna supporters who assured us last year Gulfstream would be open and ready for the 2006 meet?

Sounds like, for the live racing fan, the 2006 Gulfstream experience will be even worse than 2005. What a shock. Almost as shocking as the absense of the afformentioned posters during this latest Magna debacle.

But, hey, at least the Jumbotron is working!

Heh, heh, heh, Frankie: "We have a beautiful new race track, state of the art. No expense spared. For you, the fans. Uh, better view it from CALDER! "

Good sized fields in all 8 races!! Looks like a few new quality barns have left the Fairgrounds, I see Mark Frosted's name on the overnite.

Not bad considering they are following this 12 race a day fest to make them look bad at Calder.

Most people watch on TV anyway, by the time the Florida Derby hits they will get it together.

Minga. Throw in Parking, a Racing Form, a Beer and Hotdog to get started and your looking at 50 damn dollars for openers. Ouch.

For the curious who want to see Gulfstream, be prepared. Only two rooms on the first floor of the 360,000 square-foot facility are expected to be open. Admission to those rooms will be $10. A seat will be an additional $5 and a seat with a television monitor will be $10 more.

Maybe some of you guys didn't hear about the hurricanes this year. Made pretty big news. It may have even made the "News Brief" section in the DRF, so there's a chance you may have seen it.

There wasn't much they could do about that, as it was a natural disaster, but the racing will still be the best in the country.

Parking is FREE, Admission is Free, Hundreds of Free seats trackside. Weather will be in the 80's in the land of milk and honey. Top horses, top trainers, top jockeys, full cards. Forget the 2 hurricanes damage, they are off and running at Gulfstream Park. Turn on those computers and prepare for world class racing.

Hundreds of free seats trackside?!?!?!

Awesome dude!

So as long as under a thousand show up everything will be hunky dory!

The racing will hopefully be good on the weekends, I'm glad it's open, but it will be better viewed from home or another simulcast outlet ( as Gulfstream management has recommended ).

But, there are " hundreds ' of seats available!

The only problem, as I see it, is you are THERE and I am HERE.

Is that an invite Karl?

Thanks anyway but I already have some places to stay.

I am touched however.

HARDLY an invite, more like sorrow and concern if you do come down that you will have to go back to that jungle.

New York? I love it here.

I don't like the cold, and also had a great time going to Florida/Gulfstream for the winter back in the 90s, and I especially like the Miami area.

Believe me, I'm sorry I don't spend the winters there anymore, but it's hardly because I don't like NY. Truthfully, that area has a lot in common with NY, it's just that at this time of year the weather is a whole helluva lot better.

Perhaps he's trying to preserve his reputation.

I am the only person in the paddock area who doesn't wear sneakers and still shines his own shoes. My motto " you got to look good, to be good "

Looks like a very solid card today. Only 8 races but I'll take 8 races of quality, large fields over the 12 race/small field cards that Calder often puts out.

I got a glowing report about the new Gulfstream from a friend of mine....and he's not a South Floridian who is inclined to be overzealous.
