Shamoan. I chased this guy for three straight after he broke his maiden: Third at 20-1 in the Pasadena, third at 6-1 in the La Puenta, and second at 19-1 in the Lone Star Derby. I sat out his next three -- and missed the win at 2-1.
But now he's been off since Sept 5. Often times 2YOs, 3YOs, and even occasionally, lightly raced 4YOs can come back from some time on the sidelines and show nice improvement. And if this one can add only a few points to those Beyers he's live in here at a big price.
Over three months away and a nice string of works over the last month. He has enough speed to not lose touch with the front-runners, and if he can show that improvement he might just have a nice kick at the end.
See if I can finally get the price on this guy that eluded me earlier this year...
