Owning a t-bred for $70? Yeah right. I've been doing research into claiming a horse. It costs about $30-40/day or more just to have a horse in training. When there turned out to a ranch, it's $400/month, excluding vet bills. I've been trying to determine how long $15,000 will get me if I claim a $3500-$5000 horse at Emerald Downs. $70 :D

Yea, I would love to own a horse, but not 1/1000th of a horse. The upkeep of a horse (feed, vet, trainer, hay, etc) would average about $1000 a month in WV. I have the opportunity to buy a horse fairly cheap (owner is going to FL), and could afford the cost of the horse, but don't know about the daily bills. The horse, at least this year, is one that can pay for itself. If only I werent a student with a "cheap" job :)
